PRESSURE BEAT MIXES

Enjoy the sounds of Pressure Beat and take a sneak peak of the content that has yet to be added to the website.

For this one I decided to play album tracks only. Here’s a collection of suberb songs off of Joe Gibbs albums that I have never seen on 12″ or 7″. Mind you, that doesn’t necessarily mean they weren’t released on those formats, just that I’ve never come across one. Which is a pity, because sure nuff there are some tunes in this mix I wouldn’t mind giving a spin on my most beloved music carrier: the seven inch.

Like so many others, the infamous African Dub series is what first drew me towards the music of Joe Gibbs’ studio. From the sparse Soul Syndicate riddims to the outrageous dubs on later volumes, it’s all golden to these ears. 5 volumes of African Dub saw the light of day, each with its own style and all worthwhile. I felt like flipping over some 7″s and revisited all volumes with next version, new takes and fresh dubs. Enjoy!

For the 7th installment in the Pressure Beat series, I’ve decided to go back to the roots. Amalgamated, Jogibs, Jogib and Pressure Beat sides is what is on offer here. There’s a bunch of interesting material in this one; a couple of sureshot hitters, a few rare ones and one real obscure tune no one has been able to identify yet. If you know the answer to that particular one, please let me know? In the meantime, enjoy this batch of rocksteady, dj galore and early reggae from the Joe Gibbs premises.

For the 6th installment in the Pressure Beat series, I’ve decided to play 12″ records only. On the Pressure Beat blog the focus is still on 45’s, which makes sense as there are far more of those, but since I’ve got quite a stack of twelves lying around here I thought I’d give ’em rinse. This is the first 12″ mix, but I’ll probably make another in time to come. In the meantime enjoy these sounds!

Here’s part 5 of the ongoing tribute to the Mighty Two series. As ever, I hope you like it!
Like the mixes before, this one is also recorded in one take and taken from the original vinyls only. Forward!

Part 4 of the ongoing tribute to the Mighty Two series. As ever, I hope you like it!
Like the mixes before, this one is also recorded in one take and taken from diverse 7 inches (Belmont, Joe Gibbs Record Globe, Lightning, Errol T and Heavy Duty), two twelve inches (Joe Gibbs Record Globe > Jacob Miller tunes) and two lp’s (Joe Gibbs Record Globe )

And here’s volume 3 in the series. All tracks are produced by Errol Thompson and Joe Gibbs and were released on Joe Gibbs (Record Globe), Belmont Records and Errol T 7 inches. Except for the Prince Mohammed track, which was taken from his “Inna him head” album (Joe Gibbs Record Globe). Enjoy!

Some more nice tracks from my Joe Gibbs collection. This mix is covering the 1972 – 1975 period. All tracks are taken from early Joe Gibbs Record Globe, a Pressure Beat and a Locks 7 inch. More to come! Enjoy.

All tracks are taken from jamaican Pressure Beat & JoGib 7 inches. Enjoy!
